Besides being ridiculously beautiful music in its own right, I have instantly acquired a special fondness for it as I right away recognized track 14 as being the haunting sample on "Come 2 Me" from Pomegranate'sThis Illusion Sound, one of my desert island trip-hop albums since almost 20 years ago...
My apologies to Persian connoisseurs if this isn't what they would call a particularly strong Persian classical music record - hard to judge when so many sound amazing heard from outside the tradition - nor an exactly authentic one - it features library musician Duncan Lamont of all people playing the flute -, but it was originally released in the 70s and it did not seem like a sloppy watered-down "worldbeat" attempt to me.
