Božo Vrećo - Sevdahology (2025)
Božo Vrećo is a non-binary vocalist from Bosnia who visually puts on a fabulous show, but also has a remarkable voice that's apt for bringing spiritual undertones to the sevdalinka form... With this album, it looks like they were going for a Sami Yusuf kind of bridging between Andalusia and the Balkan (post-)Ottoman world. The instrumentals reflect that competently, but to my taste they get a little too sleek and epic at times, and I personally prefer sevdalinka to sound more brooding and intimate... Nevertheless, it's a solid work of art from a hugely inspiring person.
